I read an article yesterday about the 32 criminal charges against War Machine for his brutal assault of Christy Mack, and the likelihood that he could very well get away with just time served; it got me thinking just how fucked out our justice system is.
A Wisconsin school janitor’s home computer had over 100 images of naked little girls. He was found guilty of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. It should have been life, but hey, at least he will serve some time in jail – unlike the child rapist, the pedophile porn star, Marsha May.
Marsha May, along with 2 male co-defendants, drugged and raped 3 underage girls. Marsha May even recorded herself having sex with a 12-year-old little girl, and when she was arrested, she had the video footage of her raping the 12-year-old on her cell phone. Marsha May and the two men in question were sentenced to only ten years’ probation and didn’t even have to register as sex offenders.
That just doesn’t seem fair. Don’t get me wrong, I agree the man in possession of pictures of little girls should be in prison for far more than 3 years. But what I don’t understand is how someone who drugged and raped 3 underage children didn’t even have to register as a sex offender?
Jack Venice, a former male porn star, was sentenced to life in prison for second-degree rape. He doesn’t even qualify for parole for at least 9 years. You might think that sounds great for a rapist, but keep in mind Jack Venice never touched the girl.
He was never even accused of touching the girl. They nailed him as an accessory to the adult by not stopping the other man present from touching the woman in her sleep. So now, a man who never touched a woman is serving a life sentence in prison for rape. How the heck is that even fair?
Especially when you consider the fact that Marsha May drugged and raped 3 underage girls and got off with just probation.
I don’t get how the system works.
The Stanford Rapist only had to serve 3 months in jail, which is only half of the 6-month sentence he was actually given. He sexually assaulted an unconscious woman behind a dumpster.
It didn’t matter that there was mounting evidence against him; it didn’t matter that his victim was unconscious and alone; it didn’t even matter that Turner was convicted. He got off, only having to serve 3 months in jail. Yet a man who didn’t actually touch the girl was sentenced to life in prison.
Brock Turner is a rapist. A real rapist who forced himself on a girl who couldn’t consent because she was passed out cold.
What War Machine did to Christy Mack was inexcusable. Sure, he’s served the last few years in jail, but that’s not enough. He did more than just beat her up; he also raped her and tried to kill her.
While some states take attempted murder seriously and give those who do it a life sentence with a mandatory time served of 10 years before the chance of parole, Nevada is not one of those states. The sentence itself could be as low as 2 years, with a maximum of 10 years.
If you factor in time served plus the early releases due to prison overcrowding, I can’t help but wonder if War Machine will serve any time at all.
