Pornhub just removed a creator’s erotic audio roleplay because of a single word: grope.
Not “rape.”
Not “forced.”
Not anything obviously illegal.
Just… “grope.”
And if you think that sounds ridiculous, you’re not alone.
The creator’s name is Lewd Lexi (@lewdlexiaudios), and she was understandably upset. But there is a reason the word grope is being censored.
A few years ago, the adult industry’s banned-word lists focused on terms that were clearly tied to illegal or exploitative content. The list I gathered in 2021 had 161 words.
Words like underage, rape, molest, and forced made sense from a compliance standpoint. Platforms were under massive pressure from Visa, Mastercard, regulators, and anti-porn activists to crack down on anything that even hinted at non-consensual content.
But now? The moderation systems have become so aggressive that even words used in clearly consensual fantasy roleplay are triggering removals.
That’s exactly what happened here.
The creator received a message stating their content violated Pornhub’s Terms of Service because the audio included the word “grope.” The system categorized it as a “non-consensual word in audio.”
- Not an act.
- Not actual non-consensual behavior.
- A word.
And this is where the adult industry is heading.
The issue isn’t really Pornhub itself. The real power behind all of this is Visa and Mastercard.
For years now, payment processors have been tightening restrictions on adult platforms after massive public scandals involving unverified uploads, revenge porn accusations, and allegations of non-consensual material appearing online.
Once payment processors started threatening to pull support, everything changed. Because if an adult platform loses credit card processing, it effectively dies overnight.
You can do whatever you want, but if nobody can buy it with a credit card, what really is the point? That’s the very real issue platforms like OnlyFans and Pornhub face.
