When I first started in the industry THE company girls dreamed of working with was Vivid Entertainment. To be named a Vivid Girl (their version of a contract star) was a huge deal. Most girls today dream of becoming a Vixen Angel, but back then it was all about becoming a Vivid Girl.
One of the infamous Vivid Girls was Nina Mercedez. She was in a world all her own. A former Miss Nude Universe, she was a featured dancer before beginning her career in adult movies, solely to boost her feature dance bookings (according to her).
Born on November 10, 1979, in Corpus Christi, Texas whose family originally came from Mexico.
She’s a former fitness model who found her way into exotic dancing. But when she realized the adult film stars were getting the bookings, she decided to look into it and eventually signed an exclusive deal with Vivid Video. Nina Mercedez has this certain look about her that seems to transcend ethnic preferences.
Her first hardcore scene was in So I Married a Porn Star (2003). She stayed under contract for roughly four years, contributing to the company’s book How to Have a XXX Sex Life and appearing in titles such as Driving Mercedez Wild and Emotions.

A brief contract interruption in late 2005 made headlines; Vivid reinstated her. She left for good in January 2006. In later interviews, she cited the company’s move toward non-condom scenes as one reason she walked.
After Vivid, she launched Heartbreaker Films, which LFP (Larry Flynt’s group) distributed. She directed and produced while also running a network of performer websites under XXXFastPass and a feature-dancer talent agency called Feature Elite. She later added a swimwear line, La Scorpia.
In a 2023 podcast, she said she told Vivid she had “found God,” that her life was heading in a different direction, and that she wanted to walk away from her work in porn. She said the company was understanding and complied. That period is often framed as a retirement from traditional studio work. It was not a full exit from adult content.
By the 2020s, she had shifted to direct-to-fan platforms. Her official site now brands her as “Nina Mercedez aka Mariza Villarreal” and funnels traffic to OnlyFans for exclusive photos, videos, customs, live shows, and one-on-one chat. She also promotes a private Telegram channel.
On X (@itsninamercedez), she still posts as Goddess Nina Mercedez, using teasing bikini and beach imagery to drive subscribers.
Where She is Now
As of 2026, she remains active as an independent creator rather than a studio contract girl. The Vivid-era movies are no longer the center of her business. The product is now her own controlled library, live interaction, and custom work sold directly to fans. She has kept the recognizable stage name while increasingly using her birth name in branding.
The short version of “what happened” is this: she left the old studio-contract model, tried other businesses and a personal reset, then adapted to the subscription-and-direct-message economy that replaced the DVD-and-feature-dancer circuit. She did not disappear. She changed how she works.
