People have been blowing my shit up the last couple of days about some advice that a person is giving out that as it turns out, isn’t such good information.
I don’t want to call this person out because I truly believe she isn’t purposely giving you bad advice because she secretly wants to see you et banned from social media. I just think she doesn’t know better and since her heart is in the right place, I’m going to give her a pass. However that being said, I do feel obligated to speak up and warn people not to follow her advice regarding social media promotion.
The person in question suggested that if you wanted to get more subscribers on OnlyFans you should focus on marketing to your existing followers on social media. Specifically, the advice was to DM every follower and tell them to join your OnlyFans.
In theory, the advice sounds solid – I mean they are already following you so clearly they are interested in you, right?
Well, that problem is, this is a violation of both Twitter and Instagram terms of service and beyond just being a rule violation is one of the things that will get your account suspended real quick.
They consider this “spamming” and while one may debate what that term may mean, in the end, what we think doesn’t matter. Twitter doesn’t want you to use its platform to promote your commercial ventures. They want you to use Twitter to be a part of the community.
Long story short, don’t go DMing all your followers and asking them to join our OnlyFans. It’s just not a good idea. Ever. Seriously.
I’m sure the person in question meant well with her advice, it’s just bad advice. Remember just because someone tells you something doesn’t automatically make it true or accurate.
Sometimes you have to use common sense.
And for fuck sakes, don’t spam your Twitter followers in the DMs telling them to join your OnlyFans.
