Dale Dabone did an interview before he left the adult industry and it’s pretty damn interesting. I know it was a few years ago, but it’s still something everyone should see because he makes some good points.
For those that don’t know, when Dale Dabone left the adult industry he struggled for years to try and get a job in mainstream.
People would tell him he needs a better educated, he needs a skill – so he went to a medical assistant school. He graduated at the top of his class and got a job right out of school. Guess what? All the girls loved him. I mean, of course, he’s a good-looking, genuinely nice guy.
But it only took about 5 minutes before a doctor recognized him and he was fired. This wasn’t the first time that happened to him and it wouldn’t be the last.
That’s one of the things that a lot of people don’t understand. Once you do porn you are associated with that for the rest of your life.
One of my best friends in the world is a former porn star – you know her as Audrey Hollander. There is nothing she has done in her real life where someone at some time mentions her past work. “Oh hey, I know you,” is something she hears all the time, even to this day.
Truth is, porn stays with us for life. Once you are in the industry it’s not something that ever really goes away. It will follow you for life.
It’s something that I want us to make sure all new girls know and fully understand.
