Veteran Adult Film Director Glenn King Issues Key Booking Advice to Independent Performers: Respond to Offers Within 24 Hours

Glenn King, AVN Hall of Fame director (2020), two-time AVN Web Director of the Year (2017), and owner of MeanBitch Productions, shared practical guidance for independent adult performers on professional booking etiquette.

Veteran Adult Film Director Glenn King Issues Key Booking Advice to Independent Performers: Respond to Offers Within 24 Hours

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he emphasized the critical importance of prompt communication once a formal offer has been extended.

“When we contact an agency asking about a performer’s availability, rate, and scene details, we typically receive a response within an hour,” King explained. “The same level of responsiveness is extremely valuable when booking independent talent.”

While initial outreach and introductory conversations allow for more flexible timelines, King stressed that the dynamic changes dramatically once a concrete offer is on the table.

“If a producer or booker — let’s say Heather — reaches out with a specific offer of employment, including date, rate, and required acts, the expectation is a reply within 24 hours,” he noted. “If that window is missed, the role is almost certainly going to someone else, and future enthusiasm for working with that performer can understandably diminish.”

Glenn King highlighted the broader production impact: “Most shoots involve filling multiple dates with a balanced mix of performer types. When one person delays a decision, it frequently holds up several scenes at once. This is a reality every producer I know deals with regularly.”

The advice received immediate support from industry peers. AVN and Urban X Hall of Famer Leya Falcon responded, “The fact that this needs to be said,” underscoring the commonality of the issue within the community.

Glenn King anticipates some debate around the guidance, commenting, “I’m actually expecting some performers to push back on this and tell me I’m wrong.” He added real-world examples of cases where delayed responses (ranging from over a week to a full month) resulted in lost opportunities, even when the performers later expressed strong interest.

The full thread is available on X, but it’s really valuable information, so I wanted to make sure and share it with you here because while self-booking is great, it sometimes helps to know what directors actually want, things that a seasoned agent might already know.
