The House of Commons of Canada Bill C-302

Reading through all the tweets about the recently proposed changes in Canada I was going to tweet my response but then I realize, oh hell no. I have way too much to say to fit into a tweet.

So long story short, no way .. make that, long story long šŸ™‚

If I (a producer of pornography), pay for a director, a PA (for lighting, etc), the stills photographer, the cost of the location, the makeup artist, sometimes the outfits they wear, sometimes food and water on set, including other related fees like cleanup, baby wipes, dildos, lubes, etc., plus the cost of the performers, the cost of editing the scene, the cost of having a trailer made, and the cost of marketing said scene …. I’m just shit out of luck if one of those performers happens to be a Canadian and is like yeah I don’t want my scene up anymore. Take it down.

SERIOUSLY? People are okay with this??

If you are wondering what I’m talking about, I’m referring of course to the tweet on the APAG union timeline regarding House of Commons of Canada Bill C-302 – An Act to amend the Criminal Code (pornographic material)

It is already law for all performers in adult films to be over 18. This Canadian bill could cause performers, who have paid consenting adults to film for them, to be liable if a performer withdraws consent in the future.

This enactment amends theĀ Criminal CodeĀ to prohibit a person from making pornographic material for commercial purposes without having first ascertained that each person whose image is depicted in the material is 18 years of age or older and has given their express consent to their image being depicted. It also prohibits a person from distributing or advertising pornographic material for commercial purposes without having first ascertained that each person whose image is depicted in the material was 18 years of age or older at the time the material was made and gave their express consent to their image being depicted.

________

While I realize that today a lot of porn is done on the cheap, as content trades but not all porn. I don’t do content trades. I pay a lot of money to produce a single scene. So if this goes into law, I’ll never hire a Canadian again. I can’t afford to take that risk.

And I’m sure many are with me on this.
