Are you sure your contract with your agent is valid?

I found something very interesting today. I think more than a few porn stars will be surprised as well to find their “contracts” aren’t going to be so hard to get out of anymore because they may already be expired.

According to California labor code section 1703 – part 6 (f)

A contract between an artist and a talent service shall have a term of not more than one year and shall not be renewed automatically.

This means if they want you to sign for more than a year, your agent must provide you with a new contract each and every year for you to sign. Also any contract that has a clause that says the contract will automatically renew at the end of each year unless cancelled, is bullshit. That clause isn’t allowed under the California labor code.
